Hello! My name is Tyler Tolley

Priorities

When my family decided to move back to Utah, Saratoga Springs topped our list. One of the features we cherish most is the diverse range of lifestyles our city offers. Seeking that small-town charm? Absolutely! Looking for healthy growth? We have that as well. Craving access to the outdoors? In just 30 minutes, you can reach the city, mountains, lakes, or desert. Saratoga Springs strikes the perfect balance of being close enough to access everything you need while still far enough away to provide a peaceful retreat. I am committed to maintaining that ideal harmony that we've all come to love.

Even amidst massive growth, our city continues to excel at creating a close-knit community. From splash days to the harvest festival, train rides to recreational sports, there truly is something for everyone here! I aim to further enrich the variety of experiences our city offers.

Increase Usage of Local Resources

Our city is blessed with exceptional outdoor resources like Utah Lake, Jordan River, Israel Canyon, and the hot springs. However, many of these locations remain underutilized because residents are unaware of them or how to safely access them. I want to enhance awareness regarding these resources and equip people with the knowledge of how and when to use them safely.

Park Improvements

While our city boasts numerous parks, not all receive equal attention. We should assess the lesser-used parks and identify ways to boost their popularity. Additionally, enhancing our parks with more tree cover and pavilions for shade is essential.

Patriot Park has been a tremendous asset to the community. I propose that our city consider opening a similar park or expanding Patriot Park to accommodate the growing demand for open fields suitable for soccer, flag football, lacrosse, and other field sports. Establishing a dedicated facility with adequate parking would help us preserve our neighborhood parks for the communities they serve. This would also allow us to develop parks with more specialized experiences rather than incurring maintenance costs for extensive grassy areas.

Splash Pads or Pool

The proposed Recreation Center seemed destined for failure from the outset. Although it would have been a fantastic facility, it wasn't financially viable. I encourage the city to explore a more manageable initiative, such as a large splash pad or a community outdoor pool. A year-round pool designed like the AF Recreation Center could be an outstanding addition for the city if we can make it financially feasible.

Community Education

With the completion of our new city building and library, we should introduce community education courses. These courses could encompass essential topics like basic finance, starting a business, introduction to coding, and various other valuable skills that community members are willing to share. These programs would provide a fantastic opportunity for individuals to acquire new skills and foster personal development.

Saratoga Springs serves as the essential link between the west side of Utah Lake and the broader region. This connection demands well-planned and efficient infrastructure, but it is crucial that this infrastructure does not overshadow our community. We are a city of people, not just roads. I am committed to enhancing our city’s infrastructure while preserving the treasured small-town atmosphere that makes Saratoga Springs unique.

Roads

The city is actively investing in expanding our infrastructure in a fiscally responsible manner. As we plan new projects, we must ensure that they do not disrupt adjacent areas and cause unnecessary inconvenience. Additionally, we need to proactively prepare for the substantial growth anticipated in the near future.

Public Transportation

I am thrilled that UTA has recently submitted plans for a park and ride as part of a new route featuring continuous service to Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain. I aim to continue collaborating with UTA to identify additional routes that can help alleviate congestion and enhance transportation efficiency in our city.

Trails

I am committed to investing in trail systems that allow residents to navigate the city without relying on major roads. Whether walking, biking, scootering, or utilizing any other method, having safe and efficient access to desired destinations is fundamental to creating a vibrant community.

As our city continues to grow, a robust economy is essential for the success of our community. I take great pleasure in witnessing the flourishing businesses in our city, as they reduce the time we spend in our cars and increase the time we can enjoy our community. I am committed to attracting businesses to Saratoga Springs that residents currently leave the city to patronize.

Business Turnover

No one wants to see empty buildings, especially as we continue to construct new ones. I aim to collaborate with property owners in areas with high turnover rates to identify challenges and implement solutions that will help businesses thrive.

Business Variety

I am excited about the numerous companies that have chosen to establish themselves in our city. In addition to new national brands, I want to ensure that there is space for a diverse array of businesses. Whether it's a local sandwich shop, a specialty boutique, a tech startup, or another innovative venture, we must ensure that our city can support a wide variety of new business opportunities.

A little bit of my story

I am a proud resident of Saratoga Springs and a candidate for city council, passionate about serving our community. Raised in Utah County, I appreciate our city's unique challenges and opportunities as we grow together.

I've had the great opportunity to serve on both the Strategic Plan Advisory Committee and the General Plan Steering Committee. Being a part of these committees gave me insight into the challenges our city faces as it continues to grow. It also provided me with the opportunity to review feedback from community members about their concerns and desires for the future of the city.

Professionally, I currently work at Domo as a Senior Software Engineering Manager. Throughout my career, I've developed a passion for solving large-scale data problems. This often includes optimizing processes to make things more efficient and knowing which metrics to watch to make data-driven decisions.

Family is the center of my life, and Saratoga Springs is a great place to raise our family. Whether it's city events like Splash Days or the Fall Festival, picnics at one of our many parks, or participating in the numerous leagues that the city runs, our family thrives in Saratoga Springs. We love it here, and my vision is to help Saratoga Springs grow in a way that allows us to spend even more of our time enjoying what the city has to offer.

I am dedicated to listening to your ideas and concerns as I seek to serve on the city council. Together, we can enhance the quality of life in Saratoga Springs and ensure our community's spirit thrives. Let’s work toward a bright future for our city!
